It is important to recognize that athletes come in various skill levels and abilities. It is common practice for coaches to separate athletes by skill level for certain practice drills and games. This allows for fair and balanced competition and ensures that athletes of similar abilities are competing against each other. Separating athletes by skill level does not diminish the hard work and dedication that each athlete puts into their sport. Regardless of skill level, all athletes deserve respect and recognition for their efforts and achievements.
Refund Policy: Membership fees are non-refundable and are not prorated for any reason. Athletic Fees Refunds will be given as a credit that can be used by any child in the household for one year from the date of credit and only if the participant is injured and has an excuse from a doctor stating that they are unable to participate. If the injury occurs before practices start, a 50% credit will be granted. If an injury occurs after the first practice no credit will be granted.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Whatcom County supply teams with helmets, catcher’s gear, baseballs, bats, tees, and mitts. You are welcome to make use of your own equipment you or your child already own.
As a volunteer coach for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Whatcom County, you'll be a positive role model for youth, inspiring them to be the best versions of themselves through hard work and good sportsmanship. Even if you don't have coaching experience, we have the resources and training available to ensure you have a successful season. Become a coach today:
Step One: Submit an Application
Volunteers must complete a volunteer application. Applications can be emailed to sthurlow@whatcomclubs.org, or mailed/dropped off at 1715 Kentucky St, Bellingham, WA 98229. We always have printed copies available at the Bellingham Clubhouse.
Step Two: Background Check
Our children’s safety at the Clubs is our number one priority; therefore, every coach is required to pass a background check before being approved to volunteer.
Step Three: New Coach Orientation
After successfully passing a background check, you will meet with the Athletic Director to prepare you to become a successful coach. This includes all the information you will need for the upcoming season, along with coaching resources, support with practice planning, and answers to any questions.
